With Covid 19, flu season, the new school year and fall approaching, now is a better time than ever to focus on boosting our immune systems.
There are tons of great ways to do this, whether it’s through a healthy diet or other methods, but why not incorporate it into your daily yoga practice?
1. Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)
Cobra pose opens the heart and lungs, strengthening them and helping them to be ready for whatever the environment may throw at your body. It also helps to relieve stress, which can bring your immunity down.
2. Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana)
Standing Forward Bend is very relaxing and stress-relieving. It’s also great for your heart, and supports your nervous system.
3. Legs Up The Wall
This one is helpful because it’s super relaxing, but it’s also an inversion asana. When we’re inverted, it helps move along the lymphatic fluid in our bodies, which can sometimes move too slowly or get blocked. When our lymphatic system is blocked, we aren’t operating at our optimal health. Having a strong, healthy lymphatic system definitely helps in boosting immunity and fighting off a cold or a bug.
4. Spinal Twist (Parivrtta Sukhasana)
Spinal twists are great for detoxing our bodies, therefore making our bodies more ready for whatever the environment throws at us.
5. Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Shvanasana)
It may seem too simple, but I think the benefits of Downward Dog can be overlooked a lot. It helps to open your chest, helps with digestion, and can even help relieve your symptoms if you’re dealing with a sinus infection.
